Services

Fiber@Home provides wide range of networking services by the art of the state technology and solution for different operators in Telecommunication field. Major services of the Company cover:

  • Long Haul Transmission Network
  • Backhaul Network
  • MPLS
  • FTTx

Long Haul Transmission Network

Fiber @ Home's Long Haul Transmission Network is made up entirely of duct blown underground fiber cable of ITU-T standard specification. Our Long Haul Transmission Network is being commissioned in Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Bogra, Dhaka-Sylhet, Bogra-Rajshahi via Natore and Bogra-Khulna via Natore. This vast Fibre optic network will provide Fiber @ Home Long Haul Transmission Network coverage of almost ninety percent of Bangladesh. This Long Haul Transmission Network along the route mentioned is to have SDH technology initially. The same can be upgraded to DWDM technology as demand grows with new services coming up in Bangladesh. This network will also support the vision of the Government of having a “Digital” Bangladesh.

Backhaul Network

The Metropolitan cities of Bangladesh, typically Dhaka Metro has more 60% of cell phone usage and at the same time internet usage is almost the highest in Dhaka city. Mobile network in the city area expanded via microwave links mainly as it is faster to implement via microwave. With growing demand in the usage of internet and 3G technology poised to be offered to existing Mobile phone operators, the need to cater this explosive growth interconnectivity between COs and terminals or between service providers and valued customers, the immediate need to increase the capacity of local network is becoming a major issue.

To address this through microwave is very difficult as adjacent frequency is assigned to a separate user/operator. To increase the capacity in radio in Metro Network, a thorough re-planning and re-assignment to radio frequency is necessary. Most regulators will avoid this hard and arduous work. Even if the regulators did perform such an arduous task, operators may not be ready to procure and invest in new equipment in radio.

The answer to all these is fiber based city telecommunication network which will cater for all operators telecommunication and data Requirements (termed as “Backhaul Network”). It is more feasible for the operators if the fibre based city network is duct based underground one of international standard.

Fiber@Home Fiber network in the city is of such a standard and of fulfilling current and future requirements of capacity in Telecommunication.

MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching)
As band width is poised to increase in the Metro areas, MPLS is an excellent choice for businesses with multiple locations using a large amount of bandwidth for voice and data traffic. The Advantages of MPLS are:

  • Security - MPLS has numerous security benefits. Data is held in IP packets, providing secure isolation of these packets from other traffic over the same physical link. Some carriers even offer to make the MPLS data/traffic more secure by holding it on a private IP Backbone. All sites on your network are also managed with a single point premium firewall between the Internet to the MPLS cloud.
  • Scalability - Compared to other network systems, MPLS offers more scalability. If you are considering a "do-it-yourself" deployment of MPLS in your business, the edge routers, firewalls and multiple access methods around the MPLS cloud can be useful information to obtain from your MPLS carrier. MPLS provides VPN with virtual routes making redundancy easily configurable
  • QoS - While it's a known fact that you will get more true bandwidth for your money from a DSL or cable connection, a reliable MPLS carrier offers excellent QoS (quality of service) in terms of network engineering help, in planning and implementation of the network.
  • Cost - Every business considering a migration to or deployment of a new network system is thinking, "How much is this going to cost me?" While MPLS is, in general, cheaper than Frame Relay, as well as ATM, DSL. Also DSL and cable base data network are more complicated to manage as well as generally harder to troubleshoot.

FTTx with GPON

Fiber @ Home is implementing state of the art latest technology facility for triple play (data, voice and video) service in major areas of Dhaka Metro initially. With world wide trends in users and choices of Users (children demanding online gaming of high resolution between countries), triple play through a common high capacity media is necessity of time. With GPON all optical Fiber service can be delivered straight to the user. FTTx with GPON emulates the Star type distribution of copper based network. The major difference is that since the triple services delivered via FTTx with GPON Technology will be of higher quality, cover longer distances than copper and will be interference free.

With explosive growth in the use of services like youtube, flicker and other internet based multi-media services, home users as well as business users are demanding more and more. These “more and more” can only be met via Technology like GPON and with Fiber to the Home.

Trend of home people doing their bills online, taxes online, marketing online, ticket booking online, entertainments channel on IPTV and similar services will be the key factors to drive the FTTx with GPON.
