  • A. Mobile Operators in Bangladesh
It is evident from the recent global trend in the telecommunication sector that large operators especially mobile and broadband wireless operators tend to outsource the backhauling capacity they require to connect their BTS sites or RBS, from 3rd party carrier service provider (if available) in order to avoid their CapEx. This is more so in the case of 3G services rollout since capacity requirement in the access network is always a variable factor for the MNOs, while their primary solution is PDH microwave for this purpose, which is again having a limited capacity for expansion. The amount of data bandwidth to be required by the upcoming 3G applications cannot be met by the microwave radios due to its inherent limitations. Therefore, a strong and larger transmission network through fiber is required to meet the market demand. As the number of mobile subscribers increase, the demand for transmission inevitably increases.

    B. Fixed /Land phone Market
There are 16 licensed fixed/land phone or PSTN phone operators in Bangladesh. As with the case of mobile phone operators, PSTN operators will also require increased transmission bandwidth which Fiber@Home Ltd. can support.

    C. Internet Service Providers(ISPs)
Currently there are 166 licensed ISPs in Bangladesh. Many of these ISPs are planning to expand their services to different locations of the country. Due to their financial constraints they are not able to expand the way they intend and maintain the desired of service quality for their end clients. Carrier service from Fiber@Home in terms of backbone and in part of the last mile access would allow them to provide their services in a much more reliable and rapid manner in chosen areas. This would eventually help them to offload majority of their connectivity and network availability issue onto the infrastructure of F@H and they would able focus more on to developing higher level of services for their clients.

    D. Broadband Wireless Access(BWA) Operators
Recently three BWA licenses have been issued by BTRC to provision mobile WiMAX services. Two are already in operation and expanding their service gradually in the market. Similar to the MNOs, the BWA operators would not only require backhauling services for the RBS (Remote Base Station) sites, but also require intercity long-haul backbone services to develop a core backbone network of its own for the traffic aggregation. As such an optical carrier would be a best choice for them to capacitate their services.

    E. Govt. Entities and Ministries:
By definition of the license clauses, NTTN providers are authorized to provide network connectivity solution directly to different ministries of the government for their desired network & workflow automation and to autonomous government entities as well for the same purpose.
