Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager- Regional Operations
The Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager – Regional Operations role is responsible for leading and managing zonal field operations to ensure uninterrupted network availability and service delivery. The role oversees day-to-day operational activities, manages field teams, coordinates with cross-functional departments and clients, and ensures timely resolution of network issues while maintaining operational excellence across the assigned zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise zonal operations and multiple Operations Center (OC) field teams on a 24/7 basis.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation, maintenance, and restoration of the fiber optic network and related infrastructure.
- Monitor service tickets (TT), network alarms, and operational dashboards to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Coordinate with IP, SDH, Infrastructure Planning, SCM, HR, and other support functions to ensure smooth business operations.
- Oversee aerial and underground fiber network maintenance, fault rectification, high-loss troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Manage client connectivity implementation, service restoration, and field-level technical support.
- Supervise field surveys, project execution, and infrastructure expansion activities.
- Maintain zonal inventory, stock records, petty cash, vehicle logs, access permissions, BTS keys, and other operational documentation.
- Prepare operational reports, performance dashboards, incident analyses, and management presentations using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with telecom operators, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and health & safety standards.
- Mentor and develop field engineers and team leaders to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), or a related discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in network operations, field operations, or telecommunications.
- Prior experience in a reputed NTTN, ISP, or telecommunications organization.
- Proven experience managing zonal operations and leading multiple field teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of optical fiber network operation and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with OTDR, fusion splicing, optical power meter, and fiber testing equipment.
- Sound understanding of aerial and underground fiber deployment and maintenance.
- Experience handling Access Router (IS-2/IS-3) related issues.
- Familiarity with operational systems such as Sentral, NOC, ONM, MNI, SCM, HRIS, ITM, and inventory management tools.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Google Earth, and related reporting tools.
